Are you looking for a copywriter who can take up copywriting assignment for a resort website? Although for the past 6 years (this is 2009 and I started my online copywriting business back in early 2003) I’ve been working on a wide spectrum of assignments I have successfully worked on a few copywriting projects that involved writing for resorts websites. This included writing their main, corporate pages as well as supplying them bulk content to improve their search engine rankings. In fact even right now my team of writers is working on generating 100s of SEO articles for a Spanish golfing resort website.
How is writing for a resort website different from writing for other websites?
Writing for a resort website is more of an experience. The copy is full of passion and expression, as if you’ve actually had a great time staying at the resort. If you don’t feel enthusiastic about the resort and the kind of services it provides, how do you expect to convey the same sort of enthusiasm to your readers? Nobody is going to be interested in the resort if the copy is dull and drab, or straightforward, despite carrying all the relevant information.
The copy of a resort website should be conversational and yet, elegant. Besides making it interesting you must also elicit respect for your readers. They should feel welcome when they go through your website copy. They should immediately feel like spending some quality time on the resort.
All the relevant information should be available on your resort website and this must be incorporated within the copy. You visitors should be able to make an informed decision after going through your resort website copy.
A few days ago I wrote a blog post titled What does content marketing actually mean? and this article is a shorter version of that blog post. The basic purpose of this article is to quickly explain what content marketing is.
Content marketing basically means generating audience-specific content and then promoting it in front of the “right” target audience using the most appropriate expressions and keyword combinations (in order to target search engines). Some people confuse content marketing with simply generating content and publishing it on their website or blog. Although a highly important step, this alone doesn’t constitute content marketing. You also need to promote your content using various means available to you. You can use the various social media websites such as Twitter, Facebook, Delicious, Digg etc. In order to market your content you can also post your links on other websites and submit well-written articles to various article submission websites.
A rightly steered content marketing means creating highly targeted content for your visitors and then promoting that content using the right means. Before beginning to generate content you need to carefully consider what sort of audience you want to attract. For instance, if you want to promote yourself as an online copywriter through content marketing there are two types of people you can attract to your website: those who are simply looking for free information and those who would actually like to do business with you an avail your online copywriting services. Through your content marketing you need to convey that you are not present on the Internet just to provide free information, you are actually open for business.
You need quality text for your web pages to communicate your message convincingly. How do you convey to your business that you can offer them what they are looking for? By having solid copy that highlights the benefits of your product or service.
Quality web page text doesn’t always mean getting people to buy from you or hire your services. The main purpose of quality online text is to set up a relationship with your visitors. You need to convey to them that you can be trusted, and you are an expert in your field. Merely publishing 6-7 pages blowing your own horn doesn’t solve anything. Producing quality text for your web pages has to be an ongoing process so that people get new information whenever they visit your website and the search engines always have something new to index on your website. If you publish quality text with great frequency, the search engine crawlers visit your website and index your pages multiple times a day. This way many of your newly-created web pages begin to appear in the search engine results within hours of publishing.
Is it very difficult to generate quality text for web pages?
It depends on what’s your topic, but when you take genuine interest in your work, you automatically have plenty to say. For instance, if you are promoting your products or services from your website you can discuss every aspect of them in different articles and blog posts. If you are selling gadgets you can talk about how to use them and what benefits can be drawn from them. Find questions that people ask on different forums and blogs and answer those questions on your website. You can also gather anecdotes from various sources and publish them on your website.
Copywriting is all about convincing you visitors and consequently, turning them into your loyal customers and clients, and as a freelance copywriter, whenever I’m working on different writing assignments, my main objective is convince people.
Does convincing mean hoodwinking? Does it mean manipulating your visitors? No, it doesn’t. It simply means stating the truth in a convincing manner.
Making a purchase decision is often difficult, even when you want to do that purchase. On the Internet, and even in the brick and mortar world, there are many factors that stop you from buying something. Now, I’m not saying here that people should buy even when they don’t really need to buy, but there are many who simply resist buying till the last moment, even at the cost of reducing their efficiency and bringing harm to their business.
Take for instance, hiring a professional freelance copywriter to create outstanding content for your website. Your content is one of the most important components of your online existence and still people keep on ignoring it unless the situation is too dire and their competitors have gained insurmountable leads. My objective is to convince such people, that although they think that writing is no big deal and anybody can write for their website or blog, it’s altogether a different ball game when you need to produce unique content persistently.
When you convince your clients and customers through copywriting, you present to them a list of irresistible benefits. You tell them the real benefits. You tell them something they can easily relate to. For that you have to understand their problem, and even if they themselves don’t understand their problem, you have to understand it and then explain it to them: not to manipulate them, but just to help them. It’s like, you have a great business, but there is something stopping you from growing bigger and I can help you get rid of that hurdle. If possible, explain it with numbers.
An as an untrained writer it is often difficult to achieve that. Only a professional, freelance writer can write you a convincing copy. Let me give you my example.
I’ve been working as a freelance copywriter for more than 6 years now (I’m writing this on September 5, 2009) and I’ve written for more than 400 clients by now. All these clients came to me with different needs and just imagine the scale of experience I’ve gained writing for them. You cannot gain such experience simply by writing a single web page.
