We would write by ourselves if we had time

This is what a prospective client said over the phone when I requested him  to send me a small brief about what he wanted on individual pages of his website. Although I didn’t like it I had to emphasize with a strong tone that not everybody writes and that is why professional content writers and copywriters get paid, and some get paid quite big money.

This mistaken attitude is manifest in many clients: that we would write it if we had time. They somehow don’t realize it that professional writing makes a very big difference. Writing is not just any other activity. It is not like fetching vegetables from the market that anybody can do. It is not like any other activity going on in the office. An average copywriter goes through years of experience before he or she can call himself or herself a professional copywriter or content writer. Writing is an art as well as a skill. It takes lots of dedicated practice to become a decent writer.

Anyway, this is just the rant.
