How to hire a blog writer
Are you planning to hire a blog writer for your business or personal blog? Blogging is the necessity of the times because one, almost every business is trying to publish a blog, and two, it becomes easier to promote your website content through search engines and social networking websites if you publish a mildly successful blog.
But publishing a blog takes time and effort. It doesn’t make sense to post one or two blog posts every month and that too, randomly. You can leverage the power of your business blog only if you publish at least 3 blog posts every week. Why does frequency matter? It doesn’t actually, but then it does in some cases … depends on the kind of competition you face. If you post frequently (at least 3 blog posts every week) the search engine crawlers get into a rhythm. They learn the patten of your postings and start crawling your website/blog with greater frequency. This helps when you quickly want some of your pages crawled, indexed and ranked fast on major search engines. I have personally observed that if you post multiple blog posts everyday for a couple of weeks the search engines start showing your links on search engine result pages within a few hours.
So why hire a blog writer?
But maintaining a certain frequency is not easy. You soon run out of steam, and also out of topics. You can either focus on working on your core business or maintaining your blog. It’s better to hire a blog writer instead, and that too, a trained blog writer who knows how to pick up the right topics, write contextually, and write regularly, without running out of things to write about.
Hiring the right blog writer for your blog
Every blog has its own distinct voice, so your blog writer must have a lively, interactive style of writing. He (or she) must be enthusiastic about his writing and this must come through the way he writes. Here are a few things to consider before hiring a blog writer
Is your blog writer a good communicator? It’s not just necessary that your blog writer writes well; having a PhD in language doesn’t mean a person can write well (this way we would have thousands of highly successful authors — we don’t). Your blog writer must know how to drive in the central message effectively. You cannot expect to nurture an ongoing readership if the writing style on your blog is not communicative enough.
Is your blog writer comfortable with your blog subject/theme? This is not necessary, because I’m constantly writing on new topics, but having said that, your blogger should be able to articulate your messages with conviction and the writing shouldn’t appear stale or forced.
Is your blog writer a blogger himself? Again, this is not mandatory, it helps if your blogger maintains his own blog that he updates regularly. This shows he is comfortable with the medium, he can follow a routine, and he doesn’t just write when he is getting paid. My personal experience with various writers, whether they blog or not, is that they’re generally not good writers when their writing juices flow only towards the inclination of a payment. On the other hand, writers who do lots of writing as an intellectual activity are highly professional and worth their rates.
Is your blogger familiar with SEO concepts? Search engine optimized content is a reality no matter how much people downplay it. You need quality traffic from search engines and for the you need highly targeted, search engine optimized content. Your blog writer should know to use the right keywords without making your blog posts “spammy”.
