Improve search engine ranking with your content

The greatest thing about well-written content is that it helps you improve your search engine ranking. Search engines are constantly looking for good content to index and present it to their users. Finding your content and ranking it according to the information it contains (and how that information is published) after all is in their best interest. It’s all common sense. A majority of entrepreneurs still don’t get that it’s their content that can get them highly targeted search engine traffic and nothing else. Even those marketers who put more emphasis on incoming links from social media and normal websites and less emphasis on search engines agree that the only way you can get qualified traffic is by generating relevant and useful content.

So how can you improve your search engine ranking with your content?

  • Use your important keywords and phrases The search engine algorithms analyse the way you have used certain words and phrases to write your textual content and then accordingly rank your website, blog or individual pages. So it is very important to create a comprehensive list of all the keywords and search expressions that your prospective customers and clients tend to use when they are looking for something akin to what you provide. Don’t stuff your keywords into your content needlessly, just make sure you create your content around those keywords because this way you can convey to the search engines what you’re talking about and how it is beneficial to their users.
  • Create highly targeted pages Creating targeted pages gives you an opportunity to create unique pages for unique keywords and certain expressions relevant to your business. Having multiple keywords and key phrases on the same page mitigates the overall  effect. Having unique pages for specific keywords also allows you to create well-defined page titles. The key words and phrases in your page title are extremely important when it comes to improving your search engine rankings. Allocating specialized pages also increases your conversion rate because it eliminates confusion and misdirection.
  • Use your keywords in headings, subheadings and bulleted lists Using headings, subheadings and bulleted lists is a great way of organizing your content succinctly and efficiently. When visitors come to your website and if you use headings, subheadings and bulleted lists to organize your content they first go through them and if they find them interesting they read the remaining content. The same holds true for search engine crawlers: they take the text contained in your headings, subheadings and bulleted lists very seriously.  This is why you should have all the important key words and phrases in them.
  • Put the most important stuff at the top The search engines think similar to human beings. When we arrived at the website or a particular page we immediately want to know what it is about and how it is beneficial to us. If we don’t find useful and interesting stuff as quickly as possible we leave the website.  The same goes for the search engine crawlers; they don’t rank your website or individual pages well if they cannot find the important message quickly. Mention your important keywords and phrases in the very first paragraph and the top heading if it is possible.
  • Link to older pages from within newer pages Interlinking is very important because it makes it easier to find your other pages that are not properly been highlighted. Let us suppose that you have got a page that is ranked higher on various search engines, and you draw lots of traffic to those pages.   The page, being popular and easily found, may generate lots of incoming links from other web sites, blogs and social media groups. If this popular page contains a link to another page that contains important information but it is not popular, that page too to benefits from the popular page.
  • Continuously publish highly useful and relevant content The more pages and blog posts you publish the more content you provide to the search engines to index. It also increases your keyword density for many combinations. Useful content also attracts lots of incoming links and this further enhances your search engine rankings.

Content is the backbone of search engines and to a great extent even social media websites. Bloggers are constantly writing about new content on other blogs and websites, people are promoting and pushing links to important and interesting information present on various websites and blogs, and the search engines are constantly indexing new pages and blog posts.  It seems everything on the Internet is content hungry. It doesn’t mean people don’t understand the value of content, in fact most, if they can get it without costing much, they would like to publish  thousands of pages of content on their websites. But the only problem is they have no idea what sort of content can increase the search engine rankings as well as conversion rate.  This is where we help our clients.
