Who is a freelance writer
A freelance writer does not work for a company or an organization or even for a government; he or she works on independent assignments taking work from multiple clients or organizations. A freelance writer doesn’t necessarily have to work only when he/has work. many independent writers create work and then later on sell it to the highest bidder (ethics, my friend, is a different topic). There are many journalists who work in this manner. They are not employed by newspapers. They work independently, doing their own research and digging out information from their own sources, interviewing people. Then they sell their work to whichever newspaper or magazine that shows interest.
In my particular case I provide my freelance writing services through my website. My clients find me on various search engines or they come across my links on other websites and blogs and then they contact me if they want me to write for their websites, blogs or newsletters. I work independently. I have a few writers working for me but not on a full-time basis. Mostly I work alone because almost all of my clients hire me for my particular writing style and they are not very happy when I get the content written from someone else. I seek help from other writers when there is lots of writing to be done and I let the clients know that. In such cases even clients understand that it is not practically possible for me to write so much in a short span of time.
I really enjoy being a freelance writer. I get to work with so many people from all over the world. My happiness comes from my clients’ happiness. Even a couple of sentences of appreciation fill me with joy and I wouldn’t trade this feeling with anything else.
